Norman D. Ward, 81, of Chapman Road, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Carlsbad Medical Center.
There will be no visitation; cremation has taken place.
A memorial service is scheduled for Monday, December 29, 2014, 4:00 PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Jerry Pierce officiating. A reception will follow at The Hagerman House, 112 W. Hagerman Street.
Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors.

Norman D. Ward was born February 10, 1933 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to George Russell and Mildred (Spray) Ward. He graduated from University of Pittsburgh. Norman served his country in the U.S. Army where he was honorably discharged as captain. He began his career in Butte, MT with the Forest Service and later transferred to Carlsbad where he retired from the U.S. Parks Service. Norman was an avid sportsman. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors are his wife, Catherine Ward of Carlsbad, NM; son, Norman Ward, Jr. and wife, Lisa of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; daughter, Elizabeth Ward-Lombardo and husband, Nicholas of Boulder, Colorado and grandson, Ryan Ward of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
