Norma "Janie" Adams, 79, of Center Avenue, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away September 11, 2010 at Lakeview Christian Home.
A Graveside Service is scheduled for Tuesday, September 14, 2010, 10:00 AM, at Carlsbad Cemetery with Retired Pastor Leonard P. Foster officiating.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Norma "Janie" Adams was born July 27, 1931 in Hamilton County, Texas to Kary and Gladys (Stamp) Lee. She married Johnny Adams on November 8, 1947 in Junction, Texas. They moved to Carlsbad in 1952. Janie was an avid softball player. While she was in Texas she played with a team called the "Dizzy Dames" and later here in Carlsbad with "ICX". Janie volunteered many hours at Puckett Elementary School coaching girls softball and serving on the PTA. She was an accomplished artist and seamstress and enjoyed other arts and crafts. Janie spent countless hours performing genealogy research. She always cherished the time with her family and especially her great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jimmie Lee.
She is survived by her husband, Johnny O. Adams of Carlsbad, NM; son: Keith Adams and wife, Becky of Albuquerque, NM; granddaughter, Courtney Markham and husband, Chet of Albuquerque, NM; grandson, Jason Adams and wife, Julie of San Diego, CA; two great-grandchildren: Kaeleigh Adams and Joshua Adams; two sisters: Doris Crisp and husband, Gene of Menard, Texas, Lovie Humphreys of Dublin, TX; brother, Billy Lee of Weatherford, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
