Nora Ellen (Jonas) Wright passed away the morning of August 8, 2021. She was born in Carlsbad, NM on July 28, 1951 where she grew up riding horses and hanging out with family and friends. She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1969. She loved to work with and ride horses. In her lifetime, she was a racehorse jockey, barrel racer, team roper (on the head side), and avid trail rider.
She and her husband lived in Finley, WA where they raised beef cattle for 30 years. In addition to being a ranch-wife, Nora also worked for many years as a radiochemical technician at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Hanford, WA. She and her husband retired and moved back to Carlsbad, NM in 2018. Nora is survived by her husband Darrell, sister Marla Risher of Carlsbad, brother Clifford Jonas of Lake Conroe, Texas, five nephews, three nieces and her beloved head horse, Dazzl'n Dude. The family is planning a private service.
