Nita B. McDaniel McMillan

Nita B. McDaniel McMillan, 77, of N. 10th Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016 at her home surrounded by loved ones. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2016, 10:00 AM at Landmark Baptist Church with Preacher Dennis McKinley and Pastor Destry McDonald officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Nita B. McDaniel McMillan was born May 25, 1939 in Carlsbad, NM to LeRoy and Lulu McDaniel. She attended Carlsbad Municipal Schools. Nita married Jimmy L. McMillan February 23, 1957 here in Carlsbad. She later went back to school and received an associate's degree from NMSU-Carlsbad. Nita worked at Surplus City for many years and later in other retail stores. She was an avid walker and often seen at the beach for her daily walk. Nita's hobbies included garage sales and thrift stores. She was a faithful member of Landmark Baptist Church, a strong Christian woman in her faith and an exemplary role model. Nita was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Roy Gene McDaniel. Survivors are her husband, Jimmy McMillan of Carlsbad, NM; sons: Britt McMillan and wife, Lynna of Carlsbad, NM, Steve McMillan of Carlsbad, NM; daughter, Linda McMillan Allen and Kim of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren: Shawn Allen and Kelly, Chris Allen and Melissa, Joshua and Robin McMillan, Jason and Krissy McMillan, Tessa McMillan and Eloy, Chance and Clancey McMillan and Brandy Cole; great-grandchildren: Brittany Boyd and husband, Cody, Justice Cole, Xander Cole, Hayven Burkeen, Eloy Lopez III, Eziequel Lopez, Charlize Lopez, Tatum McMillan, Mackinzie McMillan, Madisyn McMillan, Hayden Allen, Cayson and Chloe McMillan; great-great-granddaughter, Charlie Jo Cole; sisters: Sue Saunders and Norma Grace Merritt and a host of nieces and nephews.
