Nina Poole Johnston

Nina Poole Johnston, 70, of Elgin Road, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away November 25, 2009 at her home. A gathering of remembrance will be held Friday, December 4, 2009, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM, at 706 1/2 Elgin Road. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Nina Johnston was born August 4, 1939 to Joe Edward Poole and Nina Berniece (Burress) Poole. She moved to Carlsbad at a young age and graduated from CHS in 1957. Nina married Chuck Johnston March 17, 1972 and moved to Midland where they lived until returning to Carlsbad in 1993. Nina enjoyed traveling in the RV, fishing, reading and hiking, but most of all she loved her and especially her grandchildren. She was a member of the Senior Circle. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband Chuck Johnston; children Terry Dial of El Paso, TX; Cheryl Jarnagan and husband, Jerry of Rochester, NY; Kerry Johnston of Bandera, TX ; Glenda Johnston of Houston, TX; Linda Johnston of Nashville, TN; Grandchildren: Christopher Jarnagan, Nicholas Jarnagan, Shane Johnston, Derek Dial and Dillion Dial; Sister: Edwina Bishop and husband, Winston of Fritch, TX and Sister in Heart Jeanie Rosprim of Carlsbad, NM; Nephew: Brady Bishop; Neice: Spring Crenshaw Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Assoication, 216 Truman Northeast, Albuquerque, NM 87108 or Lakeview Christian Home Hospice, 1300 N.
