Nikki Herring, 32, of Carlsbad, NM passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021, surrounded by her family. Nikki was born on May 13, 1989, in Carlsbad, NM to Andy Sanchez and Florissa (Dawson) Molina.
Cremation has taken place, and a vigil is scheduled for 6:00 PM Friday, November 26, 2021, at Saint Edward Catholic Church with Deacon Manuel Chavez officiating. A celebration of life is scheduled from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM Saturday, November 27, 2021, at the Carlsbad Civic Center.
Nikki was a vivacious person with a heart of gold who made every person she ever met feel loved or considered family, she would do anything for them. She was always a very colorful person be it her hair or her personality. No matter where she went, she always had an infectious smile that would brighten anyone’s day. During her school years she played in the band from 6th grade all the way through high school. She really enjoyed being in the band, as well as being a “Bulldog”. She was able to experience a trip to the nation’s capital and march in the Memorial Day parade along with the band.
Nikki worked as a hairstylist for over 10 years in which she made various lifelong connections with her clients, some she watched grow up and graduate high school and/or college. Anytime she had a client in her chair whether it was someone she knew for years, or it was someone she just met she always made them feel like they were the most important person at the salon. Nikki became the glue of the family and often had to be the “mother” to everyone and set everyone straight.
Nikki was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, RoseAnn Thomas; maternal grandfather, Robert Dawson; paternal grandparents, Manuel and Belia Sanchez.
Nikki is survived by her loving husband, Brandyn Herring of Carlsbad, NM; mother, Florissa (Dawson) Molina of Artesia, NM; father, Andy Sanchez and wife, Nellie of Carlsbad, NM; sister, Kathryn Dees and husband, Jeremy of Dallas, TX; two nephews and one niece: Aaron Dees-Molina, Devon Dees, and Mikayla Salinas; and numerous extended loved ones.
