Nelda J. Rogers

Nelda J. Rogers, 81, of E. Blodgett Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Goodlife Assisted Living.  Visitation will be 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM, Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brad Reimers officiating.  Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM.

Nelda was born December 18, 1940 in Bogata, Texas to Bill and Virginia (Ward) Wright.  She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1959.  Nelda married Bob Rogers December 18, 1959 in Carlsbad.  She worked at Jackson Drug several years before going to work as a secretary at Blodgett Street Baptist Church where she retired after 20 years.  Nelda was a talented musician.  She played the piano, steel guitar and sang in a ladies’ gospel trio.  Nelda was a member of the Red Hat Society, Line Dancers and long-time member of Blodgett Street Baptist Church.  She was most happy spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nelda was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors are her husband, Bob Rogers; son, Terry Rogers; grandsons: Ski Rogers and Hunter Rogers and wife, Samantha; great-grandchildren: Hayden, Haylie Jo, Hudsyn, Hayzel, Ty and Abby; sister, Rita Brooks and husband, Ray; brother, Kent Wright and wife, Tami and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ski Rogers, Hunter Rogers, Wayne Morse, Julian Mendez, David Wright and Craig Hutchison.
