Naomi "Granny" Bunch

Naomi "Granny" Bunch, 88, of Oregon Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away February 24, 2010 at her home. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM, Sunday, February 28, 2010 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, March 1, 2010, 3:30 PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Brian McGonagill and Pastor Dennis W. McKinley officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Naomi "Granny" Bunch was born February 20, 1922 in Stephenville, TX to Riley Coleman and Josephine Elizabeth (Morris) Hodges. She married Edgel J. Bunch on December 5, 1945 in Hagerman, NM. They moved to Carlsbad in 1949. Naomi worked in various occupations including the hospital where she retired in 1987. She continued working other jobs until she was 83 years old. Granny loved her family dearly and had an instrumental roll in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Edgel J. Bunch; daughter, Neita Heath; son, Bobby Bunch; grandsons: James Ray Heath and Joshua St. Peters and great-grandson, Joshua Brown. The family would like to specifically thank Wilma, Samantha and Sonia of Home Care Connection for the special care they gave Granny. Survivors include three children: Wanda St. Peters and husband, Vernon of Jerseyville, IL, James Bunch and wife, Kim of Carlsbad, NM, Vicki McClain and husband, Charles of Dexter, NM; granddaughter, Tommie Bunch of Carlsbad, NM; 11 additional grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Lucky Heath, Brian Santo, Jason McClain, Dru Sanders, Jimmy Bunch and Jeremy Bunch. Honorary pallbearers are Joshua St. Peters, Charles McClain, Joshua Brown, Vernon St. Peters, James Heath, Bobby Bunch, James Bunch and Edgel Bunch.
