Nadine Wilbourn, 79, of North Oak Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2012 at her home.
Per her wishes, cremation will take place and she and her husband will be buried alongside her daughter and grandson in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Nadine Wilbourn was born on August 23, 1932 in Muldrow, Oklahoma to John Henry and Mrytle Mae (Rankins) Wilbourn. Nadine graduated from Las Cruces High School in 1951. She married Jay I. Wilbourn on August 24, 1951. She worked at the telephone company until 1954. They moved to California and returned to Las Cruces in 1960 where she began her career at the police department in 1964. They moved to Carlsbad in 1976 and she was employed with the Eddy County Sheriff's department for 31 years. She had 43 years total, retiring as Communications and Records Supervisor. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading and loved to be with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Nadine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter: Debra "Jan" Carrico; grandson, Scooter Lee Carrico; sister, Grace Welch and brother, John Barnes.
Survivors are her sons: Allan Wilbourn of Artesia, NM and Wesley Wilbourn and wife, Rena of Carlsbad, NM; daughters: Judy DuBeau of Carlsbad, NM, Martha Ash and husband, Darrell of Las Cruces, NM, and Shawna Austin and husband, Lee of Carlsbad, NM; 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Otis Barnes and wife, Nellie, Wayne Barnes and wife, Brenda, all of NM and Jack Barnes and wife, Rilla of Oklahoma; five sisters: Ruth Conn, Maxine Kimmel of New Mexico, Nancy McCullar, Joyce Wilby and husband, J.J. all of Texas, and Fern Arras and husband, Dee of New Mexico.
