Myrt Allen

Myrt Allen, 90, of Solano Road, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Friday, October 10, 2014 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Monday, October 13, 2014 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, October 14, 2014, 10:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ken Engledow officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Myrt Allen was born August 24, 1924 in Lexington, Oklahoma to Adrian and Betty Albany (Rogers) McNutt. She attended public schools in Oklahoma and Mountainair, New Mexico. Myrt met and married Jim Allen in 1946 . They moved to Carlsbad in 1949 and raised their children here. Myrt attended medical classes in Carlsbad and was a medical assistant for several local doctors retiring in 1991. She loved to travel and visited several countries during her travels. Myrt worked in the gift shop at the Living Desert and enjoyed walking, reading and spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim Allen; son, Mike Allen; 2 sisters and 7 brothers. Survivors are her daughter. Cheryle Janway and husband, Dale of Carlsbad, NM; daughter-in-law, Glenda Allen of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren: Scott Janway and wife, D.D., Robin Spay and husband, Matt, Stephen Janway and wife, Jessica, Shae Maxwell, Shane Allen, Brandi Lawson, Jimmy Allen; numerous great-grandchildren; brother, Lyman McNutt of Phoenix, AZ and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Scott Janway, Stephen Janway, Justus Janway, Scotti Janway, Jeff Young and Jerry Young. Honorary pallbearers are Shane Allen, Jimmy Allen, Eddie Lyon, Jordan Spay, Grant Janway and Ronnie Kilgore. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O.
