Myrl Peterson Ray

Myrl Peterson Ray, 99, of Westridge Road, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Monday, June 27, 2016 at Landsun Homes. Visitation will be 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, June 30, 2016, 2:00 PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Stephanie Harmon officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Myrl Peterson Ray was born November 22, 1916 in Grandbury, Texas to W.M. and Eula (Massey) Carmichael. She married Robert O. Peterson in Lamesa, Texas. They lived in Portales and Dora before moving to Carlsbad in 1975. Robert passed away in 1979. Several years later Myrl married Charles "Bob" Ray and they moved to Capitan. She enjoyed crafts, art and going to the casinos. Myrl always loved the holidays and spending time with family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert O. Peterson; husband, Charles Ray; granddaughter, Crystal Coatney; brothers: J.W., Dale, Weldon, Pete and Hershel Carmichael and sister, Loree Weir. Survivors are her children: R.E. Peterson and wife, Leslie of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Prenetta Nolen and husband, Charles of Logan, NM, Bennie Peterson and wife, Carol of Austin, Texas; stepsons: Riley Ray and wife, Charlie of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Larry Ray of Artesia, NM, Randy Ray and wife, Shay of San Antonio, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Rob Peterson, Danny Nolen, David Nolen, Tanner Nolen, Austin Peterson, Ryan Peterson and Brenon Nolen. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com
