Monna Johnson, 89, of Carlsbad, NM, passed away February 26, 2022 at Lakeview Christian Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 12, 2022, at First United Methodist Church with Mike Veilleux officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery.
Monna was born September 14, 1932 in Homer City, Pennsylvania to James and Eva (Muffley) McCormick, the youngest of 8 children. She grew up in a coal mining town of Western Pennsylvania. Her family lived in a home and attended elementary school owned by the coal mine. Monna graduated from Homer City High School in 1950. She moved to Carlsbad in the early 1960s. Monna met Weldon “Webb” Johnson and they were married June 5, 1965. She was active in PEO, Republican Women and First United Methodist Church serving on various boards. Monna and Webb were also active in Caveman Football Booster Club when their boys were in high school. She will always be remembered for her infectious smile and outgoing personality as she never met a stranger. The family would like to thank the staff at Landsun Homes and Lakeview Christian Home for the wonderful care they gave Monna over the years. Monna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Weldon “Webb” Johnson and seven siblings.
Survivors are her sons: Jimmy Johnson and wife, Diane, Kelly Johnson and wife, Cindi; grandchildren: Kevin Johnson, Luke Johnson, Dane Johnson, Ethan Johnson and Josh Johnson; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Johnson, Luke Johnson, Dane Johnson, Ethan Johnson, Josh Johnson and Bobby Bowen.
