Moises A. Lucero, 76, of N. 9th Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Monday, May 9, 2022 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Cremation has taken place and a vigil will be held at 6:00 PM, Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 19, 2022 at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Juan Carlos Ramirez officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery.
Moises was born November 28, 1945 in Antonito, Colorado to Simon and Bersabe (Casias) Lucero. He graduated from High school in Antonito in 1964. Moe married Lyla Madril November 21, 1965. He worked in the uranium mines in Grants for several years. Moe then began work for MSHA as a federal mine inspector and retired after 30 years of service. He enjoyed painting, especially quail, playing the guitar, fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Melissa Ann Davis; brother, Gilbert Lucero and sisters: Wilma Lucero and Lucy Garcia.
Survivors are his wife, Lyla Lucero; sons: Raymond A. Lucero and Ronald Lucero; daughters: Renee Alvarez and husband, Steve, Karen Salinas and husband, Jake, Amy Lee Lucero; grandchildren: Raymond Lucero, John Lucero, Mark Lucero, Joshua Davis, Anna Davis, Michael Davis, Stephanie Alvarez, Michelle Alvarez, Stevie Alvarez, Samantha Salinas, Ashlie Salinas, Andrew Lucero, Lyla Rose Lucero; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Joe Lucero and wife, Diane; sisters: Helen Rael and husband, Gilbert, Aida Vigil, Berlinda Martinez, Gloria Ruybal and numerous nieces and nephews.
