Modean Easterling

B. Modean Easterling, 87, of Valverde Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away August 15, 2013 at Artesia General Hospital. Visitation will be 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM, Monday, August 19, 2013 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, August 20, 2013, 10:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Prell officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. B. Modean Easterling was born November 11, 1925 in Throckmorton, TX to Emerson Stephenson and Mary Etha (Orr) Tidrow. She graduated from Breckenridge High School. Modean married Doyce F. Easterling on August 20, 1945. They moved to Carlsbad in 1946. Modean was very involved in the community. She was past president of the Does, life time member of PTA, enjoyed bowling, playing softball and had a passion for sewing and quilting. Modean was a member of Blodgett Street Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Tammy Dawn Patton; brothers, Douglas Tidrow, Jackie Tidrow and sister, Betty Jean Pester. Survivors are husband, Doyce F. "Tarzan" Easterling of Carlsbad, NM; son, Danny G. Easterling and wife, Ginny of Carlsbad, NM; four daughters: Kathy J. Callaghan of Carlsbad, NM, Pamella Ann Mohr and husband, Jeff of Hilham, TN, Christy J. Pool and husband, Randy of Logan, KS, Kim D. Easterling of Hilham, TN; 7 grandchildren: Cyndi Easterling, Ronnie Easterling and wife, Jan, R. Michaele Pennison and husband, Travis, Robert Curfman and wife, Kathy, Sheri Taylor and husband, Kevin, Julie A. Dobias and husband, Terry, Amanda M. Greene; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Ronald Tidrow and wife Mona of Breckenridge, TX; sister, Winnette Bowman of Breckenridge, TX and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Pallbearers will be Jeff Mohr, Ronnie Easterling, Daniel Easterling, Travis Pennison, Terry Dobias and Robert Curfman.
