Miquela "Mickie" Carrasco Villa, 81, of Irvin Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away peacefully Monday, April 17, 2017 at her daughter's home surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A vigil is scheduled for Tuesday, April 25, 2017, 7:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church. A mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Wednesday, April 26, 2017, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Martin Cordero officiating. Miquela "Mickie" Carrasco Villa, better known as Mickie, was born December 18, 1935 in Balmorehea, Texas to Miguel and Miquela (Navarrette) Carrasco. She grew up and was educated in Carlsbad, NM and married the love of her life Jose Villa and started a family. She enjoyed being outdoors, cooking, sewing, going to flea markets, collecting angel figurines and never turned down an offer to go to the casino. Mickie especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and family. She was a member of San Jose Catholic Church. Mickie was preceded in death by her parents: Miguel and Miquela Carrasco; husband Jose; beloved granddaughter Niquela Villa; and brothers Alberto and Edward Carrasco. Survivors include her children, daughter Michelle Villa Ardoin and husband Clayton of Carlsbad, NM and son Ben Villa of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren: Nick Villa Walker, Alexius Villa, Jaqueline Ardoin of Carlsbad, NM; Chris Villa of Midland, TX and Nevaeh Villa of Roswell, NM; sisters: Ysabelle (Macario) Tobar, Lucy Trujillo, Juanita Sapien, all of Carlsbad, NM and Maria Luna of Mesa, AZ; brothers: Joe (Olivia) Carrasco, Jesus Carrasco, Frank (Pancho) Carrasco all of Carlsbad, NM and Mike Carrasco of Albuquerque, NM and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Joe Dean Carrasco, Jimmy Carrasco, Michael Carrasco, Bernard "TJ" Trujillo, Mark Trujillo and Nick Villa Walker.
