Mildred Pomroy, 101, passed away December 6, 2022 at Good Life Senior Living, Carlsbad, NM. Visitation will be 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Sunday, December 11, 2022 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Monday, December 12, 2022 at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Steve Mayrhofen, Scott Mayrhofen, Tony Pomroy, Troy Pomroy, Andy Pomroy, Tyler Pomroy and Brett Pomroy.
Mildred was born February 16. 1921 in Red River County, Texas to Claude and Lonie (Stoops) Smith. She attended Halesboro High School in Halesboro, Texas. Mildred received her GED in the 1960s in Carlsbad and attended Carlsbad Beauty College to earn her beautician’s license. She served others through the various committees she was involved with at Hillcrest Baptist Church, including being in the choir for 40 years. She was also involved with the ladies softball league, bowling league and golf association for many years. Mildred volunteered at Lakeview Christian Home leading bible study, singing and served as a beautician. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, gardening, crossword puzzles, board games (especially Hand & Foot) and card games. Mildred also enjoyed camping at Bonita Lake, fishing and especially loved road trips with her sisters. She was very proud to have been awarded the “Outstanding Citizen” award by Mayor Dale Janway in February 2022.
Mildred was a strong woman of faith and a willing servant of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, willing to serve wherever and whenever she could. She loved her church family. She was preceded in death by her parents: Claude and Lonie (Stoops) Smith; husband of 52 years, Steve Pomroy; son-in-law, Ed Mayrhofen; grandson, Kyle Mayrhofen and seven siblings.
Survivors are her children: Bob Pomroy and wife, Norma; Larry Pomroy and wife, Karen, all of Albuquerque, NM, Peggy Mayrhofen Mullins and husband, Henry of Ft. Worth, Gloria Pope and husband, Danny of Clarksville, Tennessee, Ron Pomroy of Carlsbad, NM; 15 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 25 great-great-grandchildren; numerous grandchildren in love that completes her family and 3 sisters.
Granny, as she was affectionately known by all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-greats, loved them all deeply and was a blessing loved in return. She will be missed.

Our family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Good Life Senior Living for all the care and love they have shown to our mother. Also, the Enhabit Hospice nurses and staff. We appreciate all of you. May God bless you for your mission.
