Mildred J. Beason

Mildred J. Beason, 92, of Westridge Road, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Landsun Homes. Visitation will be 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Monday, December 16, 2013, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, December 17, 2013, 10:00 AM, at Epworth United Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby W. Fuller officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Mildred J. Beason was born on December 17, 1920, in Weatherford, Texas to Edgar and Elizabeth (Poole) Belew. She graduated from Rule High School in Rule, Texas and then attended business college. Mildred met Si Beason in high school and they married October 13, 1940, in Roswell, NM. They moved to Carlsbad in 1952 where they owned and operated Beason's Furniture Store for 40 years. Mildred taught art classes through the store during some of those years. She was a charter member of Epworth United Methodist Church. Mildred was instrumental in bringing Walk to Emmaus to Carlsbad of which she remained very involved with for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Si Beason; two sisters and a brother. Survivors are her sons: Roger Beason and wife, Pat of Carlsbad, NM, Jeff Beason and wife, Elaine of Houston, Texas, and Tim Beason and wife, Vicki of Chandler, AZ; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Hank Beason, Chris Beason, Jared Pace, Sam Beason, Dylan Beason and Cole Beason. Honorary pallbearers are Tino Larez and Calvin Crow.
