Obituary
Milburn E. Reese, 100, of Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Landsun Homes.
A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park with Gene Reese and Brian McGonagill officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Milburn E. Reese was born September 18, 1918 in Colorado City, Texas to Luther Edward and Dessie May (Walker) Reese. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Milburn started school in Seven Wells, Texas. He later moved to Ackerly, Texas where he started farming. Milburn moved to Carlsbad in 1942, working for IMC Potash Mines. He served his country in the U.S. Navy in 1944 and was discharged in 1945. Milburn returned to work for IMC Potash, working over 33 years. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting, visiting friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Dessie Reese; four brothers: E.M. Reese, Grady Lee Reese, Jack Edwin and Luther Darrell; sisters: Dessie Dell Griffin, Mary Nell Justice and his wife of 46 years, Elodia Reese.
Survivors are his son, Gene Reese and wife, Edie of Carlsbad, NM; daughters: Grace Hernandez and husband, Rick of Carlsbad, NM, Brenda Joan Beene of Carlsbad, NM and Nelda Joyce Townley of Carlsbad, NM; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters: Cynthia Huber and Marcy Hayes both of Carlsbad, NM; sisters-in-law: Mollie Reese of Carlsbad, NM and Betty Reese of Denver, Colorado.
Pallbearers will be Ricardo Hernandez, Porfirio Hernandez, Shaune Reese, Patrick Reese, Mark Beene, Mathew Beene and Jimmy Townley.
