Mickie Yaez Methola, 73, of W. Ortega, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2012, at University Medical Center, Lubbock, Texas. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM - 5:30 PM, Friday, November 23, 2012, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Vigil is scheduled for Friday, November 23, 2012, 7:30 PM at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday, November 24, 2012, 2:00 PM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Santa Catarina Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Mickie Yaez Methola was born on May 8, 1939, in Carlsbad, New Mexico, to Pablo and Victoriana (Dominguez) Yaez. She married Johnny G. Methola here in Carlsbad. Mickie worked at Kmart at the service desk for many years. She enjoyed being a mother and loved spoiling her grandchildren. Mickie spent many hours in the kitchen cooking and baking for her family, which they will always remember the wonderful cakes, empanadas and tamales. She was very creative and talented at various crafts. Mickie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Johnny G. "Chief" Methola; son-in-law, Joe Rueda; and brother, Francisco "Kiko" Yaez. Survivors are her children: Patrick M. Methola and wife, Cheyenne, Lillian M. Rueda, Johnny Y. Methola and wife, Monica, all of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren: Trisha Hernandez, Tenille Ortiz, Patrick "Boy" Methola, II, Tiffany Methola, Michelle Hernandez, Lil' Joe Rueda, Travis Rueda, Krystal "Blu" Rueda, Cierra Methola, Victoriana Methola and John'A Methola; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters: Mary Rodriguez and Helen Molinar and husband, Benny; brother, Justo Yanez and wife, Lucy; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Pallbearers will be Lil' Bill Methola, Patrick "Boy" Methola, II, Lil' Joe Rueda, Travis Rueda, Johnny Y. Methola, Jr., Albert Hernandez and Carlos Galindo.
