Mickey Rodriquez Perez

Mickey Perez, 80, of North Pate Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, TX. There will be no visitation. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, September 25, 2013, 10:00 AM, at Fox and Lake Church of Christ with Philip Lairson officiating. Interment will follow in Santa Catarina Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Mickey Perez was born April 22, 1933 in Carlsbad, NM to Jose R. and Adelina (Rodriguez) Pineda. She married Joe Perez on February 22, 1955 here in Carlsbad. Mickey and Joe both worked at Ft. Stanton in the early years where Mickey helped in taking care of the tuberculosis patients. After returning to Carlsbad, she was a foster parent as she loved children. Mickey worked at Lakeview Christian Home as a nurse's aide. She enjoyed cooking for her family and never turned down the opportunity to spend time with them. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Rosalinda Perez; grandson, Shawn Ingram; sisters: Mary Lou Arredondo, Estefena Carrasco and brother, Manuel Pineda. Survivors are her husband, Joe Perez of Carlsbad, NM; three daughters: Olga Ingram of Artesia, NM, Lorena Perez of Carlsbad, NM, Michelle Rodriquez of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren: Joseph Perez, Kathy Campbell, George Perez, Shawn Ingram, Jonathan Granger, Peanut Granger, Xander Elizondo; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers: Johnny Pineda and wife, Shelia, Mike Pineda and wife, Delma; sisters: Helen Garcia and husband, Leon, Mary Gutierrez, Elsie Contreras and husband, Manuel, Rose Sarabia and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Peanut Granger, Oscar Acevedo, Xander Elizondo, Jonathan Granger, Desi Flores, Israel Flores and Robert Flores. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
