Michael "Big Mike" Sosa

Michael “Big Mike” Sosa, 49, passed away August 7, 2021 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 5 PM – 6 PM, Monday, August 16, 2021 at St. Edward Catholic Church, followed by a vigil at 6:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at St. Edward Catholic Church with Fr. Hruday Kumar Pasala officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM.
Big Mike was born August 11, 1971 in Gardena, California to Gilbert and Nazaria (Ruiz) Sosa. He was the most loving, caring, funny and smartest man. Big Mike’s kids, grandkids and family meant a lot to him. Everywhere he went, he put a smile on someone’s face. Big Mike loved to visit his older sister – who spoiled him – to watch their LA teams play. When he was not chilling with his sister, he could be found with his nephew Mikey in the garage listening to music. Big Mike was the light in every room and was the life of the party. His kids meant everything to him and he always made sure they were taken care of.
He is survived by his children: Kianna Sosa, Desirae Sosa, Michael “JJ” Sosa, Jr., Nicholas Sosa, Michael Angel Sosa, Andrew Martinez, August Marie Sosa, Crystal Sosa, Anjelica Sosa and Krysten Sosa; numerous grandchildren; siblings: Gilbert Sosa, Jr., Pauline Olivares, Priscilla Gonzales, Peggy Mendoza, Naomi Smith and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Martinez, Michael Angel Sosa, Nicholas Sosa, Gilbert Sosa, Michael Garcia, Joey Sanchez, Eric Jacquez and Jacob Sosa.
