Michael Lee Wolfe, Sr. was born November 24th, 1940 to Otha Lee and Blanche Dunagan Wolfe in Madisonville, Texas. The family moved to Carlsbad when Mickey was a small child. A 1959 Carlsbad High School graduate, Mickey was the leading scorer on the 1957-58 and 1958-59 Caveman Basketball Teams that went 22-7 and 21-9. Both teams finished third in the state tournament. As a senior, he made both the United Press International All-State Team and the All-State Tournament Team. He was also a member of the 1958 State Champion Football Team. He remained a devoted sports enthusiast throughout his life, attending many Cavemen Baseball and Cavegirl Softball games in recent years and seldom missing a "big game" on T.V. Mickey met Donna Hall and they married June 4th, 1960. After he served four years in the U.S. Air Force, they moved to Houston, Texas, where Mickey was employed in production control for many years with Cameron Iron Works and Dresser Industries. Mickey returned to Carlsbad in September, 1999. For the last two-plus decades of his life, he bravely battled a rare and debilitating muscular disease, Primary Lateral Sclerosis (PLS). He remained positive and upbeat through it all, never losing his sense of humor. Maintaining life-long contact with high school friends, Mickey delighted in seeing many of them last fall at the CHS Class of 59's 50th Reunion. He was a one-of-a-kind person, who will be greatly missed by the family and friends he loved so much. Among those preceding him in death were his parents; mother-in-law Elva Hall; and numerous Aunts and Uncles whom he loved dearly. Survivors include Donna Wolfe; daughter Cindie Stockman and husband Mark of Simonton, Texas; son Michael L. Wolfe, Jr. and wife Sue of New Braunfels, Texas; grandaughters Corie Stockman and Heather Wolfe; grandsons Christopher Stockman, Kyle Stockman and wife Ashley, and Austin Wolfe; great grandaughters Haylee Elva Stockman and Brianna Stockman; great grandson Payton Stockman; brother Ronald Wolfe and wife Judith of Conroe, Texas, nephews Calum and Roger, father-in-law Roy Hall, Jr.; brothers-in-law Dale Hall and Roy N. Hall. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
