Michael George Mashaw

Michael went to be with The Lord on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at age 36. Michael was born in Fort Bliss, Texas at William Beaumont Medical Center on November 8, 1973 to Thomas Mashaw & Sharon Warren-Briggs. Growing up, he developed a very deep and close relationship with his stepfather, Roger Warren aka "Dad" (after his parents divorced and married others) as well as his stepfather Lucky Briggs after Roger's passing. At a very early age, Michael showed huge potential and a sharp, curious mind for how all things worked. Michael graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree from New Mexico Tech, where many other family members attended, in December 1997. Shortly after graduation, he met the woman who would later become his beloved wife, Rebecca Moore. They eloped to Las Vegas, NV, and were happily married at The Grove on April 11, 2003, on the fifth anniversary of their first date, with their dear friends Karl and Angie Thomas as witnesses. One of Michael's proudest achievements was receiving his Professional Engineering License in 2009. He was also actively pursuing his Master's Degree through UNM Anderson's Executive MBA program in Albuquerque, where he met many individuals who quickly came to respect and like him, and he them. Michael was employed as an Engineer at Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, and resided in Santa Fe with his wife and two fur-babies Guido & Doree. Michael's hobbies included hunting, trains, travel, NASCAR, wine tasting and most recently, SCUBA diving, in which he and his wife became certified during their Hawaiian vacation in 2009. Michael was known not only for his intellect, but also his kind and sensitive nature. He took immeasurable enjoyment in taking care of others and solving problems to enrich their lives. Michael leaves a void in the lives of his family, who miss him terribly. He left far too soon. Michael and his family's faith in The Heavenly Father and Savior is strong. They do not doubt that he was met by his many friends and family who adore him and that he is in their care even now. Mass will be held at St. Edward Catholic Church, where Michael was a parishioner and young student during his years in Carlsbad, on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at 3:00 PM. Because of his love for animals, Michael had requested that anyone wishing to contribute remembrances of his life please do so to the Santa Fe Humane Society, 100 Caja Del Rio Road, Santa Fe, NM 87507. Michael was survived by his adoring wife, Rebecca, his loving parents Lucky & Sharon Briggs of Carlsbad, parents-in-law Ron & Sandi Bauler of Carlsbad and biological father Thomas Mashaw of Tucson. He is also survived by his sisters Denise Miller and husband Steve, Dana Robb and husband John Paul, and Lori Briggs all of Denver, CO; grandmother Helen Mashaw; aunts: Marie Gravley and husband Brad, Cathie Hoskinson and husband Bob, Christine Wolski, Francie Gordon and husband Jeff; uncles: Mike Mashaw, Ed Mashaw and wife Linda, Harold Mashaw and wife Laura, George Mashaw and wife Lela, Richard Mashaw, Pat Mashaw and wife Rhonda, Tony Mashaw and wife DawnElla, Bob Mashaw, Ray Mashaw and wife Amanda, Chester Estes & wife Annette, Mike Estes & wife Sandra and Richard Estes & wife Carol as well as a large family of cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, fur-babies Guido and Doree and many, many close friends.
