Michael Lee Martinez

Michael Lee Martinez, 27, of Davis Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Friday, September 11, 2015 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Vigil is scheduled for Friday, September 11, 2015, 7:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday, September 12, 2015, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Martin Cordero officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Michael Lee Martinez, 27, was born to Edwardo G. Martinez and Clarissa Duarte in Carlsbad, NM on February 1, 1988. He grew up with his brothers, Eddie Duarte and Damian Lopez, and loved spending time with his grandparents, uncles, aunts, and numerous cousins. You could always catch him with a huge smile on his face and making everybody laugh. Michael enjoyed painting, working on vehicles, and being outdoors. He very much loved his daughter, nieces, and nephews. His presence would light up a room as his vibrant and fun-loving personality brought happiness to everyone. Michael was preceded in death by his son, Marcus Michael Martinez and grandfather, Thomas G. Martinez. Survivors are daughter, Brook'Lynn Navarette; mother, Clarissa Duarte; father, Edwardo G. Martinez; brothers: Edwardo Duarte, Jr. and wife, Kayme, Tate Lopez, Jr.; grandparents, Eliser and Rosemary Duarte; grandmother, Elfida Martinez; nephews: Lane Burkeen, Koen Duarte; niece, Hannli Duarte and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Pallbearers will be Jared Medrado, Brad Brown, Jeff Ballanos, Jessie Rodriguez, Steven Huereque, Matt Salcido, Pete Salcido, Jared Franco, Kelly Franco and Joe Castillo.
