Michael D. Sutphin, 39, of E. Cherry Lane, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away November 25, 2010 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be Monday, November 29, 2010, 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, November 30, 2010, 10:00 AM, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad, Carlsbad, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Michael D. Sutphin was born December 14, 1970 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Michael D. Sutphin and Brenda (Pinson) Sutphin. He graduated in 1989 from Carlsbad High School. Michael attended automotive and collision school in Denver, Colorado and opened M & S Paint and Body in 1999. He married Christi Yerby in 2007 and together they blended their families. Michael's hobbies included coaching his girls in softball for many years and followed them in all sports they participated in. He supported them 110%. Michael's girls were his life. He was never one to be known as a big football fan, but learned the game and followed Josh and Jason with the Cavemen football team. Michael's passion was riding 4-wheelers. He loved all kinds of music and played the guitar at home. Michael was the funniest guy - if you were around him - it was a good time. He was preceded in death by his father Michael D. Sutphin. Survivors include his spouse: Christi Sutphin of Carlsbad, NM; 2 daughters: Summer Sutphin of Carlsbad, NM and Sunnie Sutphin of Carlsbad, NM; step-sons: Josh Palma of Carlsbad, NM and Jason Palma of Carlsbad, NM; mother Brenda Sutphin of Midland, TX; 1 sister: Tasha Sutphin of Midland, TX and numerous extended family members. Pallbearers will be David Galloway, Vance Galloway, Michael Yerby, Stoney Jennings, Scott Wade and David Lopez Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
