Michael E. "Mike" Carter

Michael E. “Mike” Carter, 75, of Carlsbad, NM passed away October 30, 2021 in Rio Rancho, NM.
Cremation will follow and memorial services will be held at Carlsbad Saturday, November 20, 2021 from 3 - 5, at the Pecos River Village Carousel House.
Mike was born August 27, 1946 in Carlsbad, NM to Ernest and Erma (Roberson) Carter. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1964. Mike attended University of New Mexico. He married Gail on October 25, 1986. Mike worked as a plumbing contractor for over 40 years. He also ranched for over 35 years which he enjoyed dearly. Mike served as president of Eddy County Cattle Growers and served several years on the Committee for Farm Service Agency. Mike was also named Farmer (Rancher) of the Year at one time. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Chipper Nethaway; step daughter Nicolette Quinn; and daughter-in-law, Peggy Nethaway.
Survivors are his wife, Gail Carter; brother, Kent Carter; sister, Karen Carlton and husband, Dennis; sons: Kevin Black, Michael Black and wife, Ann; grandsons: Caden Black and Carter Black; stepdaughters: Allison Dunn and Jamie Galloway; step son Skip Nethaway; daughter-in-law, Cindy Hazelbaker; many step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, as well as many, many close friends.
