Michael Jonathon Cervantez Carter, 36, of Carlsbad, NM passed away on Monday October 1, 2024. Michael was born in Frankfurt, Germany on February 27, 1988, to Elizabeth Aguilar (US Army) and Manuel Cervantez Jr. (US Army). He was also adopted at the age of 18 by his grandparents, Jack and Julia Carter of Carlsbad, NM (Mike would be able to carry on the Carter last name)
Michael grew up having his mother Elizabeth and Grandparents Jack and Julia Carter at his side for all his life. Michael worked for various companies and through various entities. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, and having fun. He had a smile that would capture the room when he walked in. He loved his nephews Jonathan and Ian Sosa. Michael loved to sing and play the guitar which was his passion. Michael liked reading the bible and always had one next to him. He also liked writing short stories. Michael was fortunate to have a family who loved him so much. He was and will always be Mikey.
Michael graduated Carlsbad High School and then attended New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell New Mexico. He had many friends who loved him and watched over him. Michael had many cousins and family that he loved dearly. Michael will be our angel in heaven now. He will watch over us and we will keep him in our hearts and memories forever.
Michael is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Aguilar of Carlsbad, NM; father, Manuel Cervantez of Hereford, TX; mother, Julia Carter; father, George W. Carter III of Carlsbad, NM; sister, Raven Oberbeck of Carlsbad, NM; brother, Kenneth Julian Jr. of Texas; sister/aunt, Donna Guevara; brothers/uncles; Ralph Archibeque, Larry Aguilar, Mark Aguilar, Louis Aguilar; grandparents, Antonio and Anita Aguilar of Eden, TX; grandfather, Manuel Cervantez, Sr. of Herford, TX and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Michael is preceded in death by father, Kenneth Lee Julian and grandmother, Estella Cervantez.
Visitation is scheduled from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel, followed by a memorial service at 10:00 AM with Pastor Sam Plumlee officiating. Cremation will take place after service.
