Melissa "Granny" Wright

Melissa "Granny" Wright, 98, of Queen Highway, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2011 at her home. There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 25, 2011 at Queen Cemetery with Pastor Rusty Smith officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Melissa "Granny" Wright was born June 19, 1913 in Cranfield Gap, Texas to Thomas and Effie Mae (Lee) Boren. She married Ira A. Wright on February 18, 1939 in Tarzan, TX. They lived in West Texas for many years. After Ira's death in 1994, Melissa moved to Queen to be closer to Daymond and Pat. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ira A. Wright and son, Daymond Wright. Survivors include her son, Floyd Alan Wright and wife, Rachel of Robstown, TX; daughter-in-law, Pat Wright of Queen, NM; grandchildren, Benjamin Wright and wife, Winnie of Robstown, TX brothers, Alvin Boren of Carlsbad, NM, and Chester Boren of Coleman, TX.
