Matthew Ryan Sweatt

Matthew Ryan Sweatt, 24, of Old Cavern Highway, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2015. There will be no public visitation, cremation will take place. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Thursday, June 25, 2015, 2:30 PM, at Calvary Assembly of God Church with Pastor Patrick Long and Pastor Jeff McCreight officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Matthew Ryan Sweatt was born January 10, 1991 in Lubbock, Texas. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 2009. Matt worked at the Carlsbad Municipal Golf Course during high school. After graduating, he was employed at M & M Excavation, Browning Overhead Doors and later Mosaic Potash. Matt most recently worked for Agave Energy Company where he took great pride in his work and enjoyed it immensely. His great pleasures in life were hunting, lifting weights and he had a passion for anything with wheels. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marvin Wheeler, Doc and Frances Sweatt. Survivors are his mother, Shelly Moore and husband, Bobby of Roswell, NM; father, David Sweatt and wife, Stephanie of Plainview, TX; grandmother, Mildred Wheeler of Plainview, TX; step-grandparents, Ben and Pat Thompson of Plainview, TX; step-brothers: Jason Moore, Jarrod Moore, Jeff Moore, Landon Thompson; fiance, Emily Hunt; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. The family suggests memorials be made to the Matthew Sweatt Memorial Fund at The Carlsbad Community Foundation at 114 South Canyon Street, Carlsbad, NM, 88220.
