Matthew A. Carr

Matthew Carr was born January 26, 1993, in Carlsbad, NM. Matthew passed away on June 23, 2021, at the age of 28. Visitation will be 6 PM - 7 PM, Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 AM, Friday, July 9, 2021 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation will take place following the service.

Matthew is survived by his parents Shanna Price (Arthur) and Richard Carr (Sharla), his stepfather Ronnie York and his children, Haley Jane and Jesse Allyn Carr and their mother, Jessica Ray. His brothers, Michael Carr, Aaron Wagner, and Jacob York. His sisters, Michelle Lopez (Atanacio), Brittany Bowering, Brandy Bowering, Skyler Price, and Destiny Zehnal (Michael). His grandparents, Harold and Janie Coats, Steve and Patricia Carr, and Reed and Belinda Price. His cousins, DJ Whitlock, Jordan Williams, Hunter Doyal and Jaylan Whitlock. His nephews and nieces, Sawyer Carr, Jace Bowering, Olivia Bowering, Maylea Lopez, Brantley Bowering, Wyatt Lopez, Jade Begay, Elliott Lopez, and Triana Begay. As well as numerous Aunts and Uncles.

Matthew graduated from Faith Christian Academy in 2010.

One of Matthew’s greatest joys in life was being a father to Haley and Jesse. They enjoyed going to the park or just hanging out at the house watching movies. He loved to play the guitar and ride his skateboard. You could always find Matthew at the river. He enjoyed camping, fishing, off roading and taking his dogs to play in the water. Matthew inherited his love for the outdoors from his Grandpa Harold who took him and his cousin to the mountains every chance he got. Matthew always loved riding any kind of ATV or dirt bike no matter how many times he ended up with road rash. Those who knew Matthew, know that this was his favorite time of the year. He loved the Fourth of July, especially the fireworks! Matthew and his dad Richard shared a love for every type of firework you can imagine. Anything from smoke bombs and black cats to the big arterials. Matthew loved his fireworks.

Matthew had many friends from all walks of life. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Pallbearers are Michael Carr, Michelle Lopez, DJ Whitlock, Hunter Doyal, Jacob York, Sawyer Carr, and Jace Bowering. Honorary Pallbearers are Wyatt Lopez, Jesse Carr and Elliot Lopez.
