Mary Ann Nesbit passed away at home November 12, 2016. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Vigil will be held at 7:00 PM, Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at St. Edward Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 AM, Thursday, November 17, 2016 at St. Edward Catholic Church with Fr. Pasala Hruday Kumar officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Mary Ann was born December 17, 1930, the daughter of Anna Mae and Benjamin Edward Jerome in Santa Ana, California. She attended St. Edward Catholic School through the eighth grade and graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1949. Mary Ann married Wyatt E. Nesbit August 7, 1950. She was a life long member of St. Edward Catholic Church. Mary Ann enjoyed crocheting and playing bingo. She always looked forward to Christmas, as it was her favorite holiday. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents. The family would like to thank the staff of Lakeview Christian Home Hospice for the special care they gave Mary Ann. Mary Ann is survived by her husband of 66 years, Wyatt E. Nesbit of Carlsbad, NM; sons: Steven Wayne Nesbit of Ruidoso, NM, Donald Ross Nesbit of Carlsbad, NM, Dale Nesbit and wife, Pam of Carlsbad, NM; daughters: Marla Ann Parson and husband, David of Creston, IA, Kathy Holcomb and husband, Ken of Roy, UT; sister, Effie Mae Dingler of Carlsbad, NM; brother-in-law, Harold Nesbit and wife, Wanda of Brady, Texas; sisters-in-law: Thelma Nesbit, Francis Henry; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please bring your donations to the funeral to be donated in Mary Ann's name to CASA of Carlsbad, NM. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com
