Mary Lou Huerta Salcido, 69, of Primrose Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at Carlsbad Medical Center.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 29, 2012, from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
A Vigil is scheduled for Sunday, July 29, 2012, 7:00 PM, at San Jose Catholic Church, 1002 De Baca, Carlsbad, NM.
Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Monday, July 30, 2012, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating.
Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Mary Lou was born on February 3, 1943, in Ft. Davis, Texas to Santiago and Elvira Huerta. After moving to Carlsbad, she attended San Jose Catholic School and began to look forward to her future. She met the love of her life and married him on February 6, 1960. Following her husband Marcelo's military career all over Europe, France, Switzerland and Austria, they finally settled in Germany for 8 years and continued building their family. Upon returning to Carlsbad, Mary Lou worked for the Carlsbad School cafeterias, IMC Cafeteria and finally retiring from San Jose Senior Center, although retirement didn't mean slowing down for her. She continued her duties as a housewife, always baking, cooking and making sure her home was always warm and welcoming. She lived for her family and always made sure they were well taken care of no matter what it was, she was always there. Mary Lou was a devoted wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma. She was a woman with a heart of gold. She will forever be missed. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents; and nephew, RaRa Rubio.
Mary Lou is survived by her husband of 51 years, Marcelo; two sons: Michael and wife, Guera of El Paso, Texas and Ralph of Carlsbad, NM; daughter, Annabell and fiance, Ted Ortega of Carlsbad, NM; four grandchildren: Tamica and Sharey Ybarra, Alexis Montejano and Michael S. Salcido of El Paso, Texas; two great-grandchildren: Cayley and Jeremy White; brothers: Jimmy Huerta and wife, Betty, Palomo Huerta and wife, Ofelia; sisters: Nati Rubio and husband, Lupe, Jeanie Delgado and husband, Mike.
Pallbearers will be Rollie Rubio, Paul Rubio, Jimmy Huerta, Freddy Anguiano, Jimmy Jo Florez, Palomo Huerta, Ruben Esquibel and Saul Montejano. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Fierro, Cortni Ortega, Jake Ortega, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
