Mary Ann Johnson

Mary Ann Johnson, 84, of Westridge Road, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Landsun Health Services. There will be no visitation, cremation will take place. A Memorial Service is scheduled for October 22, 2011, Saturday, 10:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Larry Krueger officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Mary Ann Johnson was born March 25, 1927 in Breckenridge, Texas to John and Johnie Mae (Sheppard) Johnson. She moved to Lea, New Mexico, near Eunice, at an early age and then to Carlsbad when she was in the 8th grade. Mary Ann graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1943. In the early 60's she owned and operated the Roswell Air Base newspaper, "Strategian". Mary Ann moved to Albuquerque where she worked for GTE. She relocated to Hobbs in 1982 to work for NCI and later transferred to Houston where she retired in 2000 after 18 years of service. Mary Ann returned to Carlsbad after her retirement. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Mary Ann had a passion for her dogs. She thoroughly loved living at Landsun Homes. The family would like to thank the staff at Landsun for the special care and love they gave Mary Ann. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, R. W. "Buddy" Johnson. Survivors are two sons: Gary Lowe and wife, Judy of Carlsbad, NM, Mike Daniels and wife, Janie of Albuquerque, NM; eight grandchildren: Jason Lowe and wife, Bridgett of Carlsbad, NM, John Lowe and Jennifer of Carlsbad, NM, Grant Daniels of Houston, TX, Leigh Porter and husband, Chris of McKinney, TX, J. T. Daniels of Albuquerque, NM, Katherine Mosley and husband, Brandon of Albuquerque, NM, David Gilmore of Albuquerque, NM, Stephen Gilmore of San Francisco, CA; ten great-grandchildren: Dalton, Randall, Drew, Paxton, Jensly, Brock, Kylee, Justin, Aiden, Samuel; sister-in-law, Cecilia "Baby" Wigley of Streetman, TX; niece, Kharol Johnson of Streetman, TX and nephew, Bobby Johnson of Scottsdale, Arizona.
