Mary Jo Jenkins

Mary Jo Jenkins, 88, passed away in her home on N. Guadalupe, June 19, 2024. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa on August 2, 1935, a daughter of Oliver Randolph Franklin and Dimple Laverne Mayer. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Marion Jenkins and her son Jason Jenkins.

 She is survived by her 4 children Nick (Jo Raye), Marian “Sissy”, Vance (Cheryl), and Joe D. (Vicki) Jenkins. She has 15 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. 

She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mary Jo loved cooking, flowers, gardening, reading, and anything with polka dots. If there was music, Mary Jo was dancing. She traveled throughout the world and made it possible for her children to do the same. She had a particular fondness for Egyptian history and artifacts. Mary Jo had a great love of celebrating holidays, and Christmas was her favorite. She had a gift of gathering her extended family and friends together to celebrate throughout the year. With her husband, she changed the lives of many through their philanthropic contributions. Together they have provided the needs of women and children throughout the world. 

Graveside services are scheduled for 9:00 AM, Friday, June 21, 2024 at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park with Vance Jenkins officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
