Mary "Helen" Shulda, 97, of Westridge Road, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Landsun Homes.
A private entombment will take place at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Helen was born December 8, 1916 in High Point, North Carolina to Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Saunders. She attended school in Alexandria, Virginia and Washington DC then relocated with family to Denver, Colorado where she graduated from East High School. Helen married Joseph G. Shulda in Adamson, Colorado on October 11, 1935 and they moved to Carlsbad in 1937. Helen was involved in numerous organizations including Pilot Club, St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary, Women's Club, D.A.R. & Christian Women's Club. She was a long time member of First United Methodist Church and served for 30 years as an Election Official. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph Shulda and granddaughter, Kelly Willard.
Survivors are two daughters: Joann Helen Youngblood of Midland, TX, Mary Kathleen Pierson of Georgetown, TX; grandchildren: Todd Willard, Kurt Austin, Heather Lamboy and six great-grandchildren.
