Mary Ann Fincher

Mary Ann Fincher, 80, formally of Carlsbad, NM passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, in Forest Grove, OR. Ann was born on April 23, 1944, in Natchez, MS to Ancel and Ethel Wilson.

There will be no visitation, and a funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Howell Scott officiating. Interment will follow at the Carlsbad Cemetery in Carlsbad, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ann graduated from Natchez Adams High School in 1962, and then graduated from Bob Jones university in Greenville, SC with her Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education with a Minor in Science in 1966. She later went on to complete her Master’s Degree in Education from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM. She had a love for helping children learn, spending 28 years teaching, 19 of which were with the Carlsbad Municipal School District. Ann married the love of her life, Bill Fincher on July 19, 1968, in Natchez, MS, and in 1974 they moved their family to Carlsbad, NM. She was a member of the Nation Education Association, Gideons Auxiliary, Blodgett Street Baptist Church and more recent First Baptist Church. Ann enjoyed gardening, cooking, and sewing in her spare time. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.

 Ann was preceded in death by her father, Ancel Benjamin Wilson; mother, Ethel Mae Wilson; and husband, William “Bill” M. Fincher.

 Ann is survived by her three children: Kim Fincher-Lucky of Rio Rancho, NM; Kerri Christensen and husband, Sam of Aiken, SC; and William Marvin Fincher, Jr. and wife, Lorena of Forest Grove, OR; ten grandchildren: Jayden Lucky, Cody Lucky, Nathan Christensen and wife, Melene, Sarah Christensen, Ruth Christensen, Chad Fincher, Julie Fincher, Liam Fincher, Eli Fincher, and Ayla Fincher; and brother, Dr. William “Bill” Wilson and wife, Dr. Ann of Nacogdoches, TX.
