She married the love of her life, Jim Muoz on August 25, 1973 and in the fall of 1979, they and their two daughters, moved from Albuquerque to Carlsbad. Shortly thereafter, Mary began teaching with the Head Start Program where she spent 18 years as an early childhood education specialist. Mary Ellen had an immense love for her family, friends, students and life as a whole. She could always be counted on to provide a hand, a smile, a listening ear and words of encouragement or comfort to those around her. Although her life centered around her family, she was also known for her love of Elvis, the Yankees, trips to Ruidoso, and nights out with her girlfriends. Mary Ellen is survived by her parents, John and Susie Vargas of Albuquerque, NM, husband, Jim Muoz of Carlsbad, NM, daughters: Anna Muoz and husband, Karlos Sachs of Arlington, VA, Christina Muoz and husband, Brian Barnes of Albuquerque, NM, her granddaughter, Zion who was her pride and joy in life, sister, Linda Cordova and husband, Arthur.
