Mary E. Cottingham

Mary E. Cottingham, 98, of Westridge Road, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away May 14, 2014 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Sunday, May 18, 2014, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, May 19, 2014, 2:00 PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Stephanie Harmon, Landsun Homes, officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Mary E. Cottingham was born on February 23, 1916, in Finchtown, Oklahoma to Samuel and Ruby (Williamson) Love. She graduated from high school in Mead, Oklahoma. Mary married Choice R. Cottingham on September 11, 1940 in Bohchito, Oklahoma. They moved to Carlsbad in 1948. Mary worked as a beautician for many years. She absolutely loved dancing and could often be seen at the North Mesa Senior Center. Mary enjoyed working in the yard, flower arranging and crafts. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Choice R. Cottingham and sister, Helen Green. Survivors are her sons: Bradley Cottingham and wife, Beverly of Santa Fe, NM, Hal Cottingham and wife, Shirley of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren: Tracy Street and husband, Jed of Odessa, Texas, Kelly Cottingham of Odessa, Texas, Brant Cottingham of Carlsbad, NM, James Massey of Plano, Texas, Michael Massey of Richardson, Texas; great-grandchildren: Hannah Street and Jody Cottingham. Pallbearers will be James Massey, Michael Massey, Brant Cottingham, Jennifer Macias, Jed Street and John Harris.
