Marty "Mojo" Joe McCormick

Marty Joe McCormick "Mojo" 54 of Carlsbad NM passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family Wednesday, March 11, 2015. There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 1:00 PM, Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with longtime friend Eddie Hooper officiating. A benefit celebration will follow at 3:30 PM at 1112 Wood Street in Carlsbad. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Marty was born October 21, 1960 to Gerald and Jerri (Dudley) McCormick in Carlsbad New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his father, survivors include Tammy Callaway his life partner of 24 years; sons: Tommy Joe McCormick and Shawn Ross Callaway both of Carlsbad. His beloved granddaughters: Madison McCormick, Hazel Witt, and Vincena Callaway; sister, Carol McCormick; brother, Glen McCormick; niece, Lavina McCormick; nephew, Calvin McCormick and Godchildren: Brian and Breanna Tucker. Marty was very well known for his sense of humor and his willingness to go to all lengths to help anyone in need. He was always able to bring a smile to the hearts of those when they needed it the most, and could usually give a witty and fitting reason to smile. He enjoyed playing darts, riding his motorcycle and tinkering with what ever had his attention at the moment. He was a collector of many things, knives, watches, cars, nuts, bolts, etc. He always seemed to have exactly the right tool anyone may need at any time, usually in his pocket.
