Martha Franco Garcia, 62, of Normandy Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Friday, February 14, 2014 at her son's home in Ohio.
Visitation will be 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM, Monday, February 24, 2014 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
A Vigil is scheduled for Monday, February 24, 2014, 5:30 PM at San Jose Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Tuesday, February 25, 2014, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating.
Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Martha Franco Garcia was born January 20, 1952 in Loving, New Mexico to Epolito and Manuela (Quinones) Franco. She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1971. Martha married Felipe Garcia on March 22, 1975. Martha was very involved in her children's lives during their school years and was always dedicated in getting them to baseball, softball and their many activities. Martha went to work for the Carlsbad Municipal Schools as a secretary, working at Joe Stanley Smith, PR Leyva, Central Office and Carlsbad High School retiring in 2012. She treasured the time she spent with her family. She was preceded in death by her father, Epolito V. "Pole" Franco.
Survivors are her husband, Felipe Q. Garcia of Carlsbad, NM; two daughters: Diana G. Orona and husband, Stephen L. of Ravenna, OH, Cristina G. Castro and husband, Marco J. of Boston, MA; two sons: Felipe F. Garcia, Jr. of Las Cruces, NM, Miguel F. Garcia of Streetsboro, OH; grandchildren: Kirstin A. Orona, Stephen L. Orona, Jr., Samantha A. Orona, Alyssa M. Orona of Ravenna, Ohio; mother, Manuela Q. Franco of Malaga, NM; brother, Poli Franco and wife, Carla of Bosque Farms, NM; sisters: Elodia F. Chavez and husband, Robert of Carlsbad, NM, Esperanza McFadden and husband, Fred of Carlsbad, NM, Celia F. Hougland and husband, Robert of Loving, NM and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Benjamin Garcia, Poli Franco, Randy Garcia, Stephen Orona, Jr., Lorenzo Varela and Elden Houghland, TJ Larez and Nathaniel Franco.
