Mark McGonagill

Mark McGonagill, 50, of Standpipe Road, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Monday, May 12, 2014. Visitation will be 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Friday, May 16, 2014 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, May 17, 2014, 10:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Rusty Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Mark McGonagill was born on November 4, 1963, in Carlsbad, NM to Curtis and Nell (Wilson) Waldrop. After his father's death, Nell married Claude "Spike" McGonagill, who later adopted Mark. Mark was a lifelong resident of Carlsbad. He was a jockey and raced horses in numerous places including New Mexico and Texas. He loved to hunt, fish and trap. Mark was preceded in death by his fathers, Spike McGonagill and Curtis Waldrop and mother, Nell McGonagill. Survivors are sons, Curtis McGonagill of Carlsbad, NM; brother, Steve McGonagill and wife, Terry of Carlsbad, NM; sister, Kim Robertson of Arlington, Texas; nephews: Cody McGonagill, Ryan McGonagill; nieces: Syrice Bogert, Shanna Robertson. Pallbearers will be Terry Wilson, Randy Wilson, Cody McGonagill, Brandon Wilson, Wayne Keneagy, Shane McGonagill and Jordan White. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
