Mario Michael Carrasco, Sr.

Obituary Mario Michael Carrasco, Sr., 55, of Farris Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away January 26, 2020 at his home. Visitation will be at 6 PM, Thursday, January 30, 2020, followed by a vigil at 7 PM, at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM, Friday, January 31, 2020 at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Pasala Hruday Kumar officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery. Mario was born April 16, 1964 in Carlsbad, NM to Felix and Catalina (Galindo) Carrasco. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1982 and received a bachelors degree from Highlands University. Mario continued his education and earned a masters degree in education from NMSU. He worked for the City of Carlsbad 15 years and then went to work for NMSU-Carlsbad where he currently was an academic advisor. Mario had a passion for wrestling and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Survivors are his son, Mario Michael Carrasco, Jr. and girlfriend, Roycee Long; stepson, Chris Rojas; stepdaughter, Abby Rojas Zuniga; stepson, Lorenzo Rojas; parents: Felix and Catalina Carrasco; sister, Melinda Carrasco; brother, Joel G. Carrasco; nephews: Dennis Carrasco and Damian Carrasco; nieces: Brianna Sanchez and Miley Granger and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Pallbearers are Frank Campos, Mike Gonzalez, Fabian Macias, DJ Knealing, Chris Rojas and Lorenzo Rojas.
