A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Landsun Manor for Marilyn Potter Perry, 86. She died Tuesday, March 10, 2010 at Landsun Health Service Center. Marilyn had been a resident of Landsun Homes since 1998. There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. Marilyn was born September 6, 1923 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Clara Schroeder Kirkham and Burdette Kirkham. She was a graduate of Juneau High School in Wisconsin and attended the University of Wisconsin and West Texas State University. She married William Lowell Potter on May 1, 1943 in Nashville, TN. He died in 1978. In 1979 she married Richard "Dick" Perry in Roswell, NM. A lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, she was active in United Methodist Women, as well as Church Women United. A resident of New Mexico since 1947, she had lived in Tucumcari, Springer, Portales, Roswell, Albuquerque, Las Cruces and Carlsbad. Survivors include her husband, of the family home; two daughters, Susan Botta-Sills of El Centro, CA and Cynthia Rives of Stephenville, TX; son, Kirk Potter of Rio Rancho, NM; six grandchildren: Christopher Botta-Sills of San Diego, CA, David Rives of Denton, TX, Fara Crawford of Weatherford, TX, Kristen Roberts of Frisco, TX, Jason Potter of Lubbock, TX and Matthew Potter of New York City; and three great-grandchildren, Christian Rives of Denton, TX, Casen Roberts of Frisco, TX and Shae Crawford of Weatherford, TX. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lowell Potter; son, Mickey Potter and two grandsons; Michael Brooks Potter and Patrick John Rives. Interment will be at a later date at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to Landsun Caring Hands Fund, 2002 Westridge Road, Carlsbad, NM 88220 or Jonah's House, 512 West Stevens Street, Carlsbad, NM 88220. Arrangements are under the direction of Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
