Marie Rotan, 88, of Delta Street, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be Thursday, March 8, 2012, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, March 9, 2012, 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Marie Rotan was born Oct. 7, 1923, in Pittsburg, Texas, to Clyde Arnold and Vada Myrtle (Allen) Ellis. She was raised in Texline, Texas and graduated from Texline High School in 1941. She married Ken Rotan on June 27, 1942, in Clayton, NM. Marie loved to travel, and spent many vacations with Ken's WWII buddies. She also loved to spend time in Branson, MO. Marie dedicated most of her life to raising her family. In later years, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was an excellent seamstress and loved making clothes. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Ken in 2009. Survivors include her brother, Clyde Ellis and wife, Barbara, of Fremont, CA; son, Richard Rotan and wife, Laura, of Carlsbad, NM; daughter, Missy Gentry and husband, Mike, of The Woodlands, TX; five grandchildren: Shea Gentry and wife, Andrea, of Midland, TX, Caitlin Rotan of Dallas, TX, Cale Gentry of Boulder, CO, Cara Rotan of Las Cruces, NM, and Kade Gentry of The Woodlands, TX. Pallbearers will be Mike Gentry, Shea Gentry, Cale Gentry, Kade Gentry, Caitlin Rotan and Cara Rotan. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, Building Our Vision Campaign, 112 N. Alameda Street, Carlsbad, NM 88220. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
