Marie Darden Davis

A Memorial service for Marie Davis, 89, of Live Oak Place, Carlsbad, NM, will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Rick Carus officiating. A reception will be held in the parlor following the service. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Davis passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Davis was born on October 1, 1923 in Royse City, TX to Albert and Alma Darden. She grew up in Sulphur Springs, TX. Marie was living in Dallas, TX when she met and married Jessie E. Davis. They were married for 57 years until his death in 2005. She worked for many years as a stock broker for E. F. Hutton in Dallas. Jake and Marie moved to Carlsbad in December 1997, where she and Jake quickly became involved in their new city, working as volunteers in the Soup Kitchen and in the Carlsbad Hospital Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, and siblings. She is survived by her children: Richard Cantin and wife, Carolyn of Plano, TX, Carole Skeen and husband, Curtis of Carlsbad, NM, Randall Davis and wife, Beverly of Fort Worth, TX; grandchildren: Sherry Lee and husband, Jim, Stacey Cooper and husband, T. J., Jennifer Davis, Kathy Hughes, Dylan Biles, Aubrie Baack and husband, Justin, 7 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
