Marian Lucille Vaughan Jones, 89, long time Carlsbad resident, passed away, Tuesday, January 8, 2013 in the presence of her family at Carlsbad Medical Center.
Visitation will be 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Friday, January 11, 2013 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dan Boyd of First United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Mrs. Jones was born on August 27, 1923 in Lodgepole, Nebraska to Charles E. and Mary (Zalesky) Vaughan. She married Lt. David P. Jones, Jr., pilot in US Army Air Corps, on August 27, 1943, in Pampa, Texas. After WWII the couple lived in Freeport, Texas a few years before moving to Carlsbad. Together they raised four sons: David, Robert, Kenneth, and Ricky.
Mrs. Jones was an active member of the Elks and Does clubs. She volunteered at the Cerebral Palsy Center, Meals on Wheels and nursing homes. Her favorite pastimes included playing bridge with friends and family trips to Kansas and the gulf coast. Marian was also a long time member of First United Methodist Church in Carlsbad. Her life was centered around caring for her family and making a home for them. She was preceded in death by her son, Ricky in 1968 and husband, David in 1994. She is survived by her sons: David C. Jones and wife Brenda of Houma, LA, Robert R. Jones, Col. USAF (Ret.) and wife Susan of Memphis, TN, Kenneth Jones, MD and wife, Jennifer of Mountain Home, AR; 11 grandchildren: Chris Jones of Houma, LA, Erin Chamberlain of Thibodaux, LA, Meghan Dickey of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Courtney Jones of Houma, Louisiana, Darby Lachico of Houston, Texas, Zachary Jones of Chackbay, LA, David Jones of Severna Park, MD, Daniel Jones of Tucson, AZ, Eric Jones of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Peter Jones of Mountain Home, AR, Alexis Neff of Arlington, TN; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters: Doris Rohr of Wichita, KS, Margaret Waters of Macksville, KS and brother, Robert Gales of Belpre, KS. The family would like to express it's appreciation to Marian's caregiver, Lupita Perry, for her devotion to caring for Mrs. Jones.
