Sulema Yturralde

A Rosary is scheduled for 9:30 AM, Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at San Jose Catholic Church, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM with Fr. Juan Carlos Ramirez officiating. Interment will take place at Carlsbad Cemetery in Carlsbad, NM. 

 Sulema was born March 19, 1929, in Carlsbad, NM to Manuel and Consuelo (Bustamante) Gonsalez. She and her husband, Jose “Champ” Yturralde were married for 60 years. She was very outgoing, kind, devoted matriarch of her five-family generations which includes children, grandchildren great and great-great grandchildren. Sulema worked for the City of Carlsbad as a supervisor and director of support services. She always exemplified kindness and fairness in her business endeavors. She was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of San Jose Catholic Church. Sulema was an avid line dancer for 26 years. She was very supportive and involved in family’s sports leagues and games. Sulema was preceded in death by her parents: Manuel and Consuelo Gonsalez; siblings: Emma Cabasos, Ruben Gonsalez, Jimmy Puga; husband, Jose “Champ” Yturralde; sons: Jose “Josesito” Yturralde, Jr., Larry “Big Y” Yturralde, and grandson, Jody Tiller.

 Suelma survived by her sister, Linda Lyons; daughters: Brenda Yturralde, Celina Yturralde, Denise Sanchez and husband, Joe; daughter-in-law, Anna Yturralde; grandchildren: Damia and Kristen, Bianca, Keir, Brittany and Chris, Joe “ Jody”, Leslie, Paris and Frank, Melanie and Lloyd, Justin, Christopher and Vicky, Kenneth and Tara, Jade and Ali, Jarod and Asley, Jeraldo, Larry Jo and Rikka, Kimberly and Abraham, Sonny and Shea; great-grandchildren: Koa, Kai, Catch, Brooks, Emerson, Magen and Troy, Jewell and Anthony, Guye and Karli, Caleb & Citlaly, Sydnie, Frankie, Seth, Paisley, Kennan and Santiago, Paychence and Rocky, Kloey and Drew, Cain, August and Chuy, Scout and Jaelyn, Terryn, Alysia, Marissa and Aiden, Alyssa and Asia, AJ, Gabriel, Dominik, Devin, Zoe, Wynn, Avery, Haiden, Brexlynn, Lynox, Maxxon, Ryx; great-great grandchildren: Gage and Kyzer, Atreyu and Aeson, Little Guye, Eli, Aliyahu and Alazar, Raylinn, Reice, Reilee, Rayf, June, Blakeley and numerous nieces and nephews.
