Maria Elena Sotelo

Maria Elena Sotelo of Laredo Street in Carlsbad NM, passed away April 3, 2022 in Roswell NM. Visitation will be 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.  A rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM, Friday, April 8, 2022 at San Jose Catholic Church followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM with Fr. Juan Carlos Ramirez officiating.  Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery.  Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Maria Elena was born to Eulojio & Nicolasa Carrasco in Vado De Pierda, Chihuahua, Mexico, Maria Elena then moved to Carlsbad NM with her husband and family. Maria Elena raised her 5 children in Carlsbad NM. Maria Elena had a passion for cooking, sewing & most importantly spending time with her grandchildren & great grandchildren. Maria Elena loved all of her children. She also was a "Grandma" at ECEC & enjoyed her kids very much. Maria Elena also enjoyed praying her prayer books & her rosary; she was a faithful Christian her entire life. 

Maria Elena was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Arturo Sotelo; brothers: Raymundo Carrasco, Alvaro Carrasco & Santos Carrasco; sisters: Maria Jesus Molinar & Anjelita Salcido, and great-grandson Justin Rylan Lujan. 

Maria Elena is survived by her husband of 65 years, Guadalupe O. Sotelo of Carlsbad NM; daughters: Sylvia & husband Rick Lujan and Lupe Aldaco, both of Carlsbad NM; sons: Jose Sotelo of Silver City NM, and Ralph Sotelo of Carlsbad NM; numerous grandchildren & great-grandchildren; sister, Josefina Gonzales; brother, Eulojio Carrasco, II and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Pallbearers will be Mark Lujan, Rick Lujan Jr, Eric Aldaco, Henry Sotelo, Emilio Sotelo and Christian Sotelo. 

Honorary pallbearers are all of her grandchildren & great-grandchildren.

Maria Elena will GREATLY BE MISSED BY MANY.
