Maria del "Carmen" Anaya

Maria del “Carmen” Anaya, 73, of Carlsbad, NM, passed away August 18, 2023 at her home.  Visitation will be 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Friday, August 25, 2023 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gabe Rubio officiating.

Maria del “Carmen” Anaya was born November 13, 1949 in Chihuahua, Mexico to Eusebio and Alicia (Martinez) Chavez.  She married Juan Anaya August 23, 1974 here in Carlsbad, NM. Carmen worked in housekeeping, Lakeview Christian Home and was a foster grandparent at Head Start.  She enjoyed playing bingo, fishing and volunteering at CARC Bargain Store.  Carmen also volunteered with the Red Cross and looked forward to attending church. Most importantly, she loved spoiling her grandchildren.  Carmen was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Mario Martinez; sisters: Luz Baiza, Guadalupe Martinez, Virginia Martinez and Irma Anaya.

Survivors are her husband, Juan Anaya; daughter, Cristina Fields and husband, Terry; son, Juan J. Anaya and Nakita Lewis; grandchildren: Luis Bustamante and Mayra Gomez, Jorge Anaya, Ci-ahra Anaya, Jesse Fields, Gregory Brown, Nathaniel Anaya and Ezekiel Anaya; sisters: Carolina Parra, Olga Barron and numerous nieces and nephews.
