Margie Gaskill

Margie Gaskill, 80, of Carlsbad passed away on Friday, March 10, 2017 at her home in Carlsbad, New Mexico. A memorial service is planned for 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the Abundant Life Church 1210 Missouri Ave. Artesia, NM 88210 with Reverend James Sidney Sides, Jr. officiating. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Margie Gaskill was born March 4, 1937 in Idabel, Oklahoma to Hardy and Mettie Sharp. She was married to McDonal Sides for 23 years and together they had 7 children. She then married Doland Gaskill on June 9, 1987. Margie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Margie was a registered nurse for many years, she retired from Carlsbad Medical Center in 1999. She enjoyed making quilts and spending time with her family. Margie was preceded in death by her parents Hardy and Mettie Sharp; husband: Doland Gaskill; oldest son: Rev. James Sidney Sides, Sr.; middle daughter: Jackie King; and her granddaughter: Misty Worden. Survivors include her sister: Mary Cowen and husband, Loyd of Lubbock, TX; her son Bill Sides and wife, Regina of Carlsbad, NM; her daughters: Belinda Jackson and husband, Robert of Denver City, TX, Debra Fleet, Alva Aguilar and husband, Larry; Connie Dodson and husband, Frank all of Carlsbad, NM; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed.
